The short version: Cooked has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or age. Photos you scan are processed to create your study material and are not stored on our servers. Almost everything Cooked knows about you lives only on your phone, and you can erase all of it from Settings at any time.
When you scan a page, the image is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to our AI processing provider (Anthropic) to generate your questions and flashcards. The image is processed in memory and discarded. We do not save your photos to any database or storage system, and they are not used to train AI models.
The results — your score, questions, and flashcards — are returned to your phone and stored only on your device.
Cooked generates a random identifier for your device (a UUID) and stores it in your device's Keychain. Your device sends it with each request, and our server stores only a one-way SHA-256 hash of it — we cannot reverse the hash back to your device.
This identifier is used solely for these internal operations:
It is not used for advertising, profiling, tracking you across other apps or websites, or building any behavioral profile. Safeguards: the value is hashed before storage, it is never transmitted to any third party for marketing, and access is restricted to the service itself.
We do not retain any personal information indefinitely.
Open Cooked → Settings → Delete my data. This erases every scan, deck, and setting on your phone, resets your device identifier, and instructs our server to delete everything associated with it. It cannot be undone, and you do not need to contact us to do it.
Cooked is a study tool used by students of all ages, including students under 13. We designed it so that using it does not require handing over personal information: there are no accounts, we never ask for a name, email, or age, and we collect no contact information from anyone.
The only identifier we hold is the hashed device value described above, used exclusively for the internal operations listed there — enforcing limits, preventing abuse, and unlocking subscriptions — never for advertising or profiling.
Parents: if you believe your child has provided personal information through Cooked, email us at cooked-app@outlook.com and we will delete it. You can also erase everything yourself instantly via Settings → Delete my data. Subscriptions are purchased through Apple, and we recommend using Apple's Screen Time and Ask to Buy controls to manage purchases made on a child's device.
All traffic uses HTTPS. Our AI provider credentials live on the server and are never included in the app. We keep a written internal security and retention practice covering the limited data described in this policy and review it at least annually.
Because we hold no information that identifies you, the practical exercise of access, correction, and deletion rights is the Delete My Data button. For any request or question, email cooked-app@outlook.com.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and the date above, and note it in the app.
